How can I find crystal structures analysed at high pressure in the CSD?

Modified on Thu, 22 May at 6:53 PM

For most data added to the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD), the pressure at which the structure was collected is obtained from the CIF field _diffrn_ambient_pressure (see https://www.iucr.org/__data/iucr/cifdic_html/1/cif_core.dic/Idiffrn_ambient_pressure.html).

As part of the CCDC’s data curation process, efforts are made to standardize the pressure data to units of GPa and to exclude cases where ambient pressure has been incorrectly recorded in this field. The curation process may also identify instances where pressure information is reported in the publication but missing from the deposited CIF.

High-pressure CSD entries can be found using ConQuest by performing an All Text search with ‘Pressure’ set as a Required Field (available under the ‘Required Field’ tab of the All Text query pane). Pressure values can also be accessed programmatically via the CSD Python API using the entry.pressure attribute.
