Updating an existing local licence server after renewing your licence

Modified on Tue, 13 Jan at 9:46 AM

If you run a local licence server, its licence key will automatically be extended when you renew your licence. Usually it will pick up on the new expiry date automatically. If it does not, you may need to stop, reactivate and restart the licence server. To do this, follow the steps below, which are also necessary if you have been sent a replacement licence server key.

  1. Stop the local licence server
  2. If the licence server key has changed, edit config.yml to include the new key
  3. Run the following command from the local licence server installation folder to activate the server, using your licence server key instead of the example used below:
    Windows: CCDCFloatServer -a --license-key 123456-123456-123456-123456-123456-123456 -c config.yml -p ccdc.dat
    Linux/macOS: ./CCDCFloatServer -a --license-key 123456-123456-123456-123456-123456-123456 -c config.yml -p ccdc.dat
  4. If you have an older version of the local licence server, the syntax of the commands will be different. Use
./CCDCFloatServer -h to view the command line options. You may also want to ask CCDC Support for a link to the latest version
  5. Start the local licence server

You should be able to confirm your licence expiry and features via the Help - About menu item in most CSD Portfolio applications.
