How do I set up my browser to view IsoStar scatterplots?

Modified on Fri, 21 Feb at 3:05 PM

In order to view scatterplots via a Web browser there are two main steps.

  • Configure your OS to open .istr files with isostar.
  • Configure your browser to open these files automatically.

This is the process in more detail.

  1. Download a .istr file from http://isostar.ccdc.cam.ac.uk/.
  2. Open the Downloads folder, right click on the file and select Open With.
  3. (Windows) Ensure that "Always use this app to open .istr files" is ticked. If isostar is not showing in the list of apps, click "More apps" and "Look for another app on this PC" then browse to CCDC\ccdc-software\isostar\isostar.exe.
  4. (Mac) Select Other and tick Always Open With, then browse to CCDC\ccdc-software\isostar\isostar.app.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Download another .istr file in your browser.
  7. Click the Downloads icon in your browser's toolbar, right-click on the .istr file and select "Always open files of this type" (Google Chrome) or "Always open similar files" (Firefox).
