Can I redistribute data from the CSD?

Modified on Fri, 14 Mar at 9:56 AM

  • No; in order to ensure the database remains available for future generations, and to keep The CCDC sustainable as a charity so we can continue to maintain and improve the data, access is licenced.

  • If you have a full paid licence, this allows you to search, view, and use the data in calculations and in the training of algorithms and models. The licence does not allow external sharing of original data from the CSD, such as making bulk CIF files available to others outside your organization. See a typical licence agreement here.

  • If you would like to share derived data or models, please contact us to check if this is permitted within your license terms or if a separate agreement is needed. Email support@ccdc.cam.ac.uk

  • For the CSD MOF Collection there is a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike licence. This makes it free to use in non-commercial research. If you are at a commercial company, you will need a licence to use this data. See more details and the licence wording here.

  • The CSD Teaching Subset, is not restricted and is available on our downloads page. We make this available to support education in the chemical sciences. See more details here.

  • If you are unsure about what you can and cannot do, our team are happy to advise — contact support@ccdc.cam.ac.uk
