I have not published my data within a year of deposition, can I extend the embargo period?

Yes. If no publication is identified within one year of deposition, you will be contacted to confirm whether the structure can be published as a CSD Communications or an ICSD Communication, or if it is still intended for publication. If you confirm that the structure is still intended for publication, we will continue to store your data in trust for an additional year. If the publication is not identified within that subsequent year, you will be contacted again.

You can now extend the embargo period yourself through our deposition services. To do this:

  1. Register for an account on our website.

  2. Log in and go to ‘My Structures’.

  3. You will see a list of your deposited structures. Those with a status of ‘Unpublished’ have not been made public or added to the CSD or ICSD.

  4. Click the ‘Details’ button to view the Embargoed Date.

  5. You can extend the embargo period by one year by pressing ‘Extend’.

You may extend the embargo period by one year at any time. Through the deposition services, you can also publish your data directly to the CSD or ICSD as a CSD Communication or ICSD Communication by clicking the ‘Publish in a Database’ button on the details page.

Currently, your data will not be disclosed publicly when the Embargoed Date expires. Instead, we use this date as a reminder to check on unpublished structures and to ask you how you wish to proceed.
